About Alyssa
"Wine is Sunlight, Held Together by Water"
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Mathematics. I had the intention to move to Colorado and teach High School Mathematics. I found myself back in the service industry for financially stability. A Wine Rep came into the restaurant I was working at to teach the staff about the wines we were serving. As soon as I was a part of that class, I knew this was what I was meant to do. Instead of fighting teenagers about the importance of math, I could teach people about wine!

I instantly started teaching myself all the different and cool things about each wine I was serving. I held classes teaching my colleagues. Then I looked into becoming a certified wine expert. I passed the Court of Masters Intro exam first with flying colors. Then I went on to pass the WSET Level 2 Award in wines passing with distinction. The most challenging was the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. This is the exam where you have to blind taste wine and write theory. The pass rate for the first time is 50%. I passed with the 2nd highest grade "pass with merit".

I believe when you open yourself to the world of wine, the world opens itself to you. Just by studying wine and where it comes from, I know more about this beautiful world we live in. I've been able to meet winemakers from around the globe and learn about their cultures. I have traveled to Europe to experience Italian wine first hand. Recently, went to Oregon for a wine tasting trip(highly recommend).

I want to share that enjoy and wonder with the people I meet. There is something about knowing fun facts or feeling of confidence when you drink wine that is exciting to me. Wine for some reason can be super intimidating. It shouldn't be about knowing more than the person next to you. It should be about connecting and getting glimpses into that person's life. Wine is subjective and solely base on each individuals memories. Then you pair it with food and now you are making art and satisfying all your senses.

I could go on and on, but we can talk more when I meet you in person. Cheers!
